True or False did the Watchtower Corporation create false doctrines intentionally to enhance the proliferation of their own publications ?
by Finkelstein inmuch as been revealed over the years to the date setting doctrines made by the wts.
such as ( 1874, 1914, 1925 , 1975 this generation, the last days, the end times etc.... which were not created by other christian based faiths.. as to critically examine why might reveal a hidden agenda to all these date setting proclamations.. the point in question is did the wts and its leaders intentionally manipulate or exploit the preaching of the gospel to enhance the proliferation of their own printed publications ?.
i would say convincingly yes, no question.

no pictures of Kingdom Hall remodels???
by Lynnie ini'm following an old friend on instagram who's an uber elder and he does lots of work on kh's and has gone to warwick on his own dime to help with the construction.
on his instagram post he says " i can't post pictures of the kh remodel but i can post pics of jack daniels that i had afterwards" or some such.

What can the leadership at Watchtower do to turn things around?
by UnshackleTheChains inlet's play devils advocate here.. put yourself in the governing body's shoes.
they are well aware of all the issues they are facing.
they know their numbers (they 'do the math' as they say in the us).

donations for local cong expenses are used to care for expenses incurred by the congregation INCLUDING the monthly rent or whatever you want to call the mandatory donation. as for assistance in building, every penny was collected before ground was broken, and every penny over X amount was requested to be donated, and was, at least here. now we can't even save enough money for seats that need replaced as the amount exceeds the operating allowance
there is never any accounting for where the money really goes, just vague references to "good use" you can trust them though

How Would You Console A Witness Who Has Lost A Loved One?
by minimus inlet’s say that you haven’t been around a kingdom hall in years and everyone knows you are not a “true believer “ anymore.
yet a tragedy strikes and you want to give a real heartfelt expression of your feelings— what would you say?
would you acknowledge the resurrection hope that the witnesses entertain or say something very different?.

same as a worldly person. do anything practical they need you are capable of, just be there, take in a meal, gently help them through any guilt they have (there is always something they (we) did or didn't they regret, cannot be helped for any of us)
even a lot of gung ho witnesses know enough to hold back on a lot of scriptures at that time

JC letter of invitation. Do they always get signed?
by StarTrekAngel ini was just shown a jc letter from a friend and i noticed that the bottom of it was signed by tree elders.
the letter specifically stated that it was an invitation to a "judicial committee" due to the brother having a marital relationship that was not aligned with bible principles.. i am asking because i remember reading experiences of brothers who demanded their jc be arranged over certified mail with signed letters to which elders refused to do.
since they could not get this done the matter was dropped and no dfing ever happened.

How about a knock on the door at 11 at night "we have a committee who will be here tomorrow" it was a kangaroo court

This week's "Give Us Your Money" meeting item.
by freddo inif you went to it, (or go later this week) how was it handled?
just the video or some commentary too?.
i have heard of a few negative comments from some that attended - one jw even openly said to me "not very encouraging, all they go on about is money lately" and another (a serving elder, no less) said "someone's got to pay for all those lawsuits".

JWs - Liberals or Conservatives?
by neat blue dog inwhere they stand is a strange mixture.
yes, they don't agree with abortion and homosexuality, they believe in the bible and wear skirts and ties to church .
but in many ways they're liberal.

Most people are non aligned independants. Anyone who follows a political party is just letting someone else make decisions for him and telling him (her) what to think. Sound like any thing else you know?

in fairness, NPR, TV, lots of non profits do a year end donation drive. Also to be fair, I don't donate to NPR because they seem too left wing nowadays. You can see where your money goes on most organizations and decide if you want to support them.
It stinks that the WT asks for money in general fund not marked for any cause, then when I heard a second time the Carribeann disasters (not just PR) were given $3 million all around from "the money you donated". So they didn't even earmark all the money donated for the disasters. This must work out to something like $50 per person. then the "aid" will be from nearby local brothers with little input other than bigwig overseers from the org.
